The Car
Our car is based off the Vaterra Slickrock crawler. We have used it's axles and drivetrain. Otherwise everything has been custom built by our team.
This is our chassis design from last year. Each year we design and build the full chassis and suspension system. This involves making the chassis sides and some links underneath the chassis. This year we have paid a particular focus on the suspension setup. We have completly re-designed this, and had to make more custom parts than usual. We feel having done this work, our car should preform better than last year.
We also make our own bodies. Last year we vacuum formed our own body. This meant we had to make our own mould, and then form over it. We didn't really like the look of the wheel arches sticking out, so this year our body has been significantly altered to improve the looks, strength and clearance for the wheels. Since last year we have also upgraded our tyres, giving us better traction. We hope these changes will give our car a distinctive look as we compete on the course.
